• TWO STAGES IN ONE BOX – A three stage RO runs a carbon block ahead of the membrane and another behind it, and this pack covers both. The front cartridge takes chlorine out before it reaches the membrane, which is the single thing that shortens membrane life fastest. The rear cartridge polishes the flat, stored taste water picks up sitting in the tank. Change both about once a year, membrane about every two.
• BETTER-TASTING WATER FROM EVERY SOURCE – Whether your home runs on municipal tap water or a private well, the carbon reduces the chlorine taste and odor that make water unpleasant to drink and cook with — better-tasting water from the system you already own. For certified reduction of specific contaminants, look for cartridges tested to NSF/ANSI 53 for those claims.
• FITS THESE SYSTEMS – Sized 9.75 by 2.5 inches with a 1.25 inch inside diameter for the 21179, 21176 and 21191 three stage systems and the UF22, UF22T, UF50 and UF50T Ultrefiners. One important exception: systems built in 2013 or later are usually Ultrefiner II, which takes proprietary dealer cartridges and will not accept these. Check your model before ordering.
• MATCH THE FILTER TO YOUR WATER – Cartridges are maintenance parts, not water treatment plans, and no single one handles everything. Carbon reduces chlorine taste and odor. Sediment media captures sand, silt, dirt and rust. For any specific contaminant you are concerned about, look for a system certified to the NSF/ANSI standard that names it. If you are on a private well, start with a water test.
